Lady Tabitha or Tabby for short, came to us on a sultry summer evening last year. Those first few days were a challenge but our efforts to keep her and her dam cool have paid off handsomely. Tabby is an erect, alert and spot-on conformationally correct female. And while her fleece isn't as tightly penciled as our 2006 AOBA reserve champion Pucara Primo it is very nearly as greasy and lustrous. As noted in her Dam's description she comes from some pretty spectacular line of suri genetics on both sides. Her grand sire on the Dam's side is none other than Admiral 581 who was one of the last true black herdsires to come into this county. He's noted for his fineness and high luster and is co-owned by Tillman Suri Alpacas, Northwest Alpacas, International Alpacas of Canada and Leraso Farm Alpacas. In fact, Ray and Maria Rodriguez have been quoted as saying that "This male (Admiral) has the finest true black fleece we have seen to date with a micron count of 21."
Tabby was bred this late this past fall to our AOBA Reserve Champion Pucara Primo and we are thinking that this will likely result in a really stellar cria. Based on her pedigree, we're aiming high as she has all the characteristics that discerning suri breeders are looking for and of course Primo doubles down in every respect. Regardless, there is always room for enhancing the individual animal and whether we or you do it; Tabby is certainly worth the investment!
